A barbershop manager turned artist, Big Mike transformed his lunch breaks into a remarkable artistic journey at the iconic Astor Place Hairstylists in New York's East Village. After decades of managing the barbershop, he rediscovered his high school passion for painting, turning the barbershop's storage area into a secret loft where he created a stunning collection of over fifty vibrant paintings without any formal art training. His unique, heavily textured 3-D pieces have caught the attention of the art world and media alike. Big Mike’s art has been celebrated by major media outlets, including The New York Times, NBC New York, and Allure Magazine. A documentary by filmmaker Nicolas Heller, "Big Mike Takes Lunch," further amplifies his story, proving that it's never too late to pursue creative passions.
